Everything is Crumbling but the Kingdom of God

Pastor’s Weekly Refuel

EVERYTHING IS CRUMBLING BUT THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Ps 33:20-22We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. 22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you. (NIV)

It has never been so evident in my lifetime that the world’s systems are crumbling. The economic system that so many have depended on for their future is simply falling apart. Wall Street is quaking. International money markets are shaking. People whose hopes were in their 401K or IRA are trembling. Jobs are disappearing. Surveys are showing that the people are beginning to drink more to drown out the fear. People are also ingesting more illicit drugs in an attempt to escape to a better place. There is a major rescue effort underway across this country to find hope. Aren’t you glad that as children of the Most High God we don’t have to participate in that search? Praise the Lord that our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and righteousness (Psalms 33:20-22). Aren’t you glad that through the Holy Spirit, our hope, our helper, our comforter, is with us 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year? Praise the Lord, our hope stands secure!!!

No matter what happens around us, as children of God we know that our foundation is The Rock (Matthew 7:25). The economic rains may fall; the financial floods may rise and the Walls Street winds may blow, but if we understand that we are anchored in and on the Rock, we “will not be moved” (Psalms 62:6).

We need to do like David did in Psalms 18:1-3 and understand that in times of hardship and attack, our God is the ultimate protection. He is the impenetrable covering that keeps us from all hurt, harm or danger. He is our rock, our fortress and our deliver. He is our shield, our strength, our victory and our stronghold. Anyone who tries to convince you that God cannot catch you as everything around you falls is a liar – period, end of conversation.

So in the midst of global fear, economic terror, social upheaval, local crime and family feuds – rejoice (Psalms 64:10) and learn how to take refuge in God. Our faith and trust in our God puts us in a place of safety and peace no matter what is going on in the world (Psalms 27:5). There is no recession nor depression in the Kingdom of God (Mark 4:30-32). So, rejoice! In what many are calling the darkest times in recent history, Christians must let their light shine because we know that our God is more than able (2 Corinthians 9:8). Christians, despite the circumstances around us, should reflect the peace given to us through the power of the Holy Spirit at work within us (John 14:25-27). If you believe, really believe, there should be no doubts about your life because God said He would supply all our needs (Philippians 4:19) no matter what. The world’s system may be crumbling , but our God, our hope and our foundation still reigns!!!

Be Blessed, Be Thankful, and Rejoice,

  1. I like this post. I wrote a very similar one yesterday, but it sounds better when you say it. (There is no recession or depression in the kingdom of God.)
