CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON

Every warrior has a favorite weapon. It might be based on how it feels in the hand. Or maybe it is based upon the weapons reputation. It might have evolved into a favorite based on the experience in the midst of the battle. It may be a combination of factors. But in a crunch, everyone who is accustomed to battle has a favorite weapon to back up, injure or destroy the enemy.

So what’s yours? Since we can agree that the Word of God is our weapon (Ephesians 6:17), which scripture do you use in times of battle? Most Christians have, or should have, a bevy of scriptures at their disposal to use depending on the battle being waged. That’s fair enough. However, if you were in an ambush and didn’t have a chance to flip through your Bible or explore the recesses of your mind, what is the scriptural weapon that you would use?

I will offer up Psalms 27:1 as my current weapon of choice. I used it because it provides a lot of fodder I can blast at the enemy. Psalms 27:1 is so powerful for me because it states exactly who God is and what He can do. There are three things in this verse that, if you can grasp, will help you live a life of peace.

Let’s take a look.

Psalm 27: 1-2

The LORD is my:

· light (bright clear daylight, my morning sun),

Here I understand that the Lord lights the way for my life. He is not hiding somewhere; He is shining all over me allowing me to bask in His glory. He is there with me, guiding me through the darkness, giving me hope of a brighter future. While darkness represents sadness and despair, the Lord my light represents eternal happiness and joy.

· and my salvation (victory, safety, deliverance, prosperity) – whom shall I fear?

In every battle, the Lord is my victory. In very confrontation, the Lord assures I will win. The battle is already won before it is fought. I can live a life in peace and tranquility because my Lord has already delivered me and positioned me to prosper. With victory guaranteed, safety assured and prosperity promised, why should I fear?

· The LORD is the stronghold (strength, fortress, force, rock) of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?

In my weakness, He is strong. When I am worried because of the enemy’s barrage, He is my fortress. He lifts me, elevates me above my enemies. He makes sure that none of the enemy’s weapons will prosper. I shall not have fear. I shall not be afraid because each day I am sure of who my God is and what He will do for me.

This is my weapon. I recite it with confidence and believe every word. It causes the enemy to stop in his tracks because he knows that I know that my Lord, my awesome Light, Salvation and Stronghold is always with me.

So what about you? Send me your No. 1 scriptural weapon. I will compile a list and share it with everyone so we can all have a number of weapons to wage this daily battle against the enemy. Having more weapons helps us to find peace in every battleground.

Be Blessed, Be Thankful and Be Battle Ready,
