Who Or What is Your Anchor?
Have you ever gone through a difficult patch in life and wondered if it was ever going to end? Money was tight all the time and you had pinched that penny so tight Abraham Lincoln was turning blue.
It seemed that the more you loved your children and tried to understand them, the worse they acted and the more madness they got into. No matter how you tried to please your boss, it just never seemed like it was good enough. And to top it all off; the car broke down or the washing machine went out or the dishwasher started making funny noises.
We have all been there. We have all felt overwhelmed by our every day lives. I think we have all gotten to a point at one time or another when we were ready to through in our towels and say, “enough is enough.” However, God made us a promise and he is true to His word even when we are not true to Him.
In this passage of scripture, God promises us that the storms of live that assail us will not overtake us. The wicked winds that blow away our hopes and dreams we subside one day. The storm surges that try to sweep us away under the load of guilt, shame, depression, and low self-esteem may be tricky for us to handle, but God has already arranged to deal with them on our behalf.
Will God stop the winds from blowing? Probably not, but He won’t let them take us off course. Will He stop the rain from getting us wet? No, but He won’t let it rain so hard that we loose our way. Will He stop all the madness that jumps off in our lives and allow us to leave in complete happiness? Don’t you wish? More than likely not. Well then what can God do for us when everything seems to be falling a part?
He has already done it. He has given us Jesus to be our anchor. He has given us Jesus to be our safe harbor in the midst of our storms. He has given us Jesus to hold us fast so that the storms of live cannot carry us away.
So, the question is not if God is going to take care of us in the midst of our storms. The question is who or what are you using for an anchor?
…”Do not be afraid, for I am with you…” Isaiah 43:5
Anita Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Thank you so much for that inspiring Word. Sometimes, I do feel overwhelmed when I’m in te midst of a storm. Its good to know that He will never leave me or foresake me during those trials. Plus, I’m being perfected to continue and grow.
I will be visiting Shiloh soon. My friend in Christ and co-worker, Brenda Thomas told me about your church and how much she has been learning.
Take care and may the peace of God that surpasses all understanding be with you and family today.
Love you,
Your Sis in Christ, Lenola

Dear Lenola,
Thank you for the kind words. It’s always good to be reminded that God is always there. In the middle of our most difficult God may not calm the stormy sea I’m in but, if I let Him, He always calms the storm in me.
I look forward to see you at Shiloh.
