My Old Self Doesn’t Fit Anymore

My Old Self Doesn’t Fit Anymore

…”But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these; anger, rage, malice, slander and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”… Colossians 3:8 – 10

When you gain weight, you cannot wear your old clothes any more. After you’ve lost weight, your old clothes don’t fit you any more. Regardless to whether you gain or loose weight you have to get clothes that fit.

When you come to Christ you loose your old self and gain a new you. Due to the finished work of Christ, I and you are new CREATIONS (II Corinthians 5:15 – 17). We have to let go of our old stuff and allow God to bring us into our new lives.

You cannot walk in the newness of Christ wearing all our old stuff.

You may think you’ve let go of all your old stuff, but…

You may still be carrying un-forgiveness if you have a chip on your shoulder from an old boyfriend or girlfriend or your ex-husband or ex-wife.

You may still be carrying hatred if thinking about someone from your childhood still causes you anger and emotional outbursts.

You may still be carrying resentment if you can’t talk to your mother or father without bringing up old family news.

You may still be carrying filthy language on your lips if you can’t have a conversation without cursing.

You cannot fit the things of God on top of your old stuff. Something has to go!

You and I have to make a decision. Do we want to hold on to past hurts, pain, heartache and hurt feelings that have held us captive for years? Or, are we willing to walk in the newness of life that was won for us by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ?

If you have really accepted Christ, your old way of life should not fit you any more.

…”Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation the old has gone, the new has come!”… II Corinthians 5:17

  1. Well hello First Lady Anita “sunshine” ,

I thank God for His Word that flows freely from your heart. Also, I thank God for on time Word for this hour.

I don’t want to return to my old self because I was definitely a mess but because of ALL that Jesus Christ has done for you and me, we can live in His abundant love, joy, and grace. Hallelujah!!!

We have been born from above, we must continue to stay in the Spirit so we won’t gratify the lust of our flesh.

May God continue to bless you as He uses you to continue to share His Word with the world.

    Love you,

You know who? It’s me, Lisa H.

  2. Dear Sis. Lisa,

Thank you for your support and your kind words. It is a blessing to know that I CAN’T go back to what I was because God, through Christ, has taken me to a new place where my old stuff just doesn’t fit any more.

    God bless you.
