Seed Time – Part IV

THE SEED KILLER

 

…”Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.”… Matthew 4:21-22

When God tells us to do something, he expects immediate movement. He expects us to begin the necessary steps to move from where we are to where he’s sending us.

Whether we move or not, we are giving God an immediate response. If we move immediately we’re telling God he’s trustworthy. If we don’t move immediately we are telling God that He’s not trustworthy and we need to think about what he’s asking us to do and decided if we’re going to do it or not.

When you know God has told you to do something you don’t have to pray about it. You need to pray as you go about doing what he’s told you to do. If you truly trust God, then there shouldn’t be a hesitation in starting what God has laid on your heart.

We hesitate in our obedience to God for many reasons. Some reasons include our past histories, our past failures or our current situations and circumstances. We hesitate because we don’t feel good about ourselves or we’re concerned about what someone else may say.

Our hesitation often turns into procrastination, which is the seed killer. Procrastination is sin in slow motion.

…Our reports are always based on our past history, current knowledge or future dreams. Our reports are steeped in me, my and I, and leave little t no room for God to work through us as He sees fit. Our reports usually include what others will think of us, what they will say about us or what we’ll look like while we’re doing what God told us to do. – Page 121.

Why do you need to move right away? Because if you don’t reason, logic, fear and doubt will set in and before you know if you’ll be sinning in slow motion. Procrastinating and making excuses for not being obedient. Frustrated because you can’t figure out why God isn’t responding to your requests and not finding any contentment or peace in your life.

God has called you to fulfill his will for your life. He appointed you to the tasks He’s called you to before he formed you in your mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5.) The idea/seed that he has given you is a part of his will for your life. If you don’t start now He can’t move you forward into the greater things he has for you.

You don’t have to be perfect, but you do have to be immediately obedient. Sin is sin, even when it’s in slow motion.

…”But Samuel replied: Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice…” I Samuel 15:22
